Looking for a Shortcut

That US Airways plane which was landed safely on the Hudson river in NY had to be driven through the backstreets of East Rutherford, NJ to the warehouse where it was being examined by federal aviation investigators.

Likely, they assumed a passenger jet flying down the New Jersey Turnpike might spook a few drivers. Granted, even at full jet speed it might have had a hard time keeping up with the speed on the Jersey turnpike.
I'm just saying.
