Branching Out

As referenced in a previous post, another branch from the family tree. This one originates in Airola, in Campania, Italy a small medieval village nestled in the rugged Italian mountains--- founded around 900 BC, Airola and its surrounding region was given as a gift from an Italian Pope to the Lombard Baron Aorald.

An interesting note --the Ruggiero family line, traced through Francesca Ruggiero (circa 1835)
, has direct lineage to both a Renaissance composer to an Italian Pope, as well as the Italian King Ruggero who united parts of both northern and southern Italy and Sicily into a modern kingdom around 1100 AD.
