New York City - 1941

These rare color photos were shot by a visitor during a trip to New York City in 1941, while the country was in the midst of World War II, and when black and white photos were the norm and color photos a rarity.
Recently uncovered, the shots were taken with, what was then, very expensive color kodachrome film and a color developing process that was still in its infancy.

Click on the pictures for a larger view.  The color gives a detail and a fresh look to a period mostly viewed in black and white.
